was funded by Mr. and Mrs. W. R. McAlpin, two associates of the College, and dedicated as part of the 175th anniversary of the school. Bronze plaque embedded in brick walkway 27 feet in front of

reads: Dedicated October 20 1957/One Hundred Seventy Fifth/Anniversary/Washington College/A benefaction of/Mr and Mrs W. R. McAlpin.
