Description:
Peace is represented by a seated nude male figure with a nude young boy standing by his proper left side and a cow reclining behind him. The young boy leans against the male figure and plays a flute. The male figure holds a staff vertically in front of him with his proper left hand. He leans against the staff and casually rests his proper right arm on top of it.

Remarks:
This
sculpture
is one of five bronzes by Barye that were given to the City of
Baltimore
by wealthy businessman William Thompson Walters in 1885. Originally, all five were installed in the West Garden of Mt. Vernon Place. In 1916, due to landscaping improvements, the five bronzes were relocated to the area around the Washington Monument.
