Remarks:
According to
Camden
library documents, the boy is a symbol for Bacchus, a Greek mythical character, and the grape leaves around his head are symbols of harvest and festival. The fawn signifies the forests, and the frog, lakes and streams. The
sculpture
was commissioned by Mary Curtis Bok Zimbalist in 1930 and landscaped by the
Camden
Garden Club in 1988. IAS files contain transcription on adjacent plaque and a brief article on the
sculpture
from the
Camden
Public Library.
