Remarks:
Edward Troye, 1808-1874, was one of the foremost American painters of horses in the nineteenth century. The designer of the
sculpture
, Alexander Keene Richards, was a friend and patron of Edward Troye, and it was at Richards' farm, Blue Grass Park, near
Georgetown
, that Troye continued to paint in his final years. IAS files contain a brief biography of Edward Troye.
