    Description: 
    A baby elephant standing on all four legs, its trunk curled under. The elephant rests on an integral base, which features flowers in relief around the elephant's feet. The sculpture sits on a concrete base.

    Remarks: 
    The elephant is an advertising figure modeled after the baby elephant born in the Barnum and Baily Circus, Feb. 2, 1882, in Bridgeport, Connecticut. This sculpture and others were purchased in the 1870s and 1880s by Marysville banker Charles F. Koester for his family home, where he developed a formal garden and an outdoor sculpture collection. The Koester House was listed on the National Historic Register in 1975. IAS files contain related article from Kansas (No. 1, 1985): pg. 5-6.
