Remarks:
The memorial honors Olaf Martin Oleson who emigrated from Norway to
Iowa
at seventeen. At nineteen he studied pharmacy and returned to
Fort
Dodge
where he made his fortune in real estate. He gave his fortune to local projects, most notably a local hospital and several parks for the community. His foundation still contributes to health related causes.
