    Description: 
    An extensive rock and water sculpture running on the ground in a serpentine pattern east to west. Water flows from a pump concealed in a small stone, gabled structure over a wooden water wheel into a connected series of pools and channels. The channels are separated by flower urns and bridges and bordered with pink and black granite. Stone aggregate benches are placed at intervals alongside the channels.

    Remarks: 
    The sculpture was built under the auspices of FERA (Federal Employees Relief Administration) as a WPA (Works Progress Administration) project. Fred H. Ahlgrim was the architect. IAS files contain a related article from the South Bend Tribune, March 27, 1991. Washington Park is on the National Register of Historic Places and a 1988 NRHP form is on file at the Division of Historic Preservation Archaeology, Indianapolis.
