Remarks:  The sculpture was created specifically for the museum for 1984 inaugural, and was purchased in June 1985. The work was conserved and repainted with a gloss white epoxy paint in October 1989. SOS! survey report lists media as painted steel; Fort Wayne Museum of Art Accession records list media as aluminum. IAS files contain copy of Fort Wayne Museum of Art Accession Record, and excerpt from Michael McCarthy and Claire Ewart's "Sculpture All Around Us - Fort Wayne Museum of Art," 1988. Plaque about 8 feet in front of work reads: David Black U.S. b. 1928/Crossings, 1984/Painted Steel/Museum Purchase with funds donated by/the Alcoa Foundation on behalf of/Rea Magnet Wire Inc.
