Description:
The base and figures have been carved from the same stone. The three figures, the teacher with her arms around two children, emerge from the base and are depicted waist length.

Inscription on a nearby plaque reads: Lorado Taft/Sculptor of Memorial Statue Apple creek prairie chapter/National Society/Daughters of Am. Rev./9/25/87.
Conflicting dates given. Although plaque inscription gives dedication date of 1887; date on base inscription is 1927. Inventory cataloger unable to resolve conflict.
