(On left corner of base, engraved:) Carol Brown 1986 (On plaque on front center of base:) Brown calls her sculpture "figurative things that have a zoomorphic or anthromorphic quality." Her pieces are both recognizably human and strongly other-worldly. "I expect a mixture in reactions. One person sees my work as whimsical while others find it creepy. That fascinates me and it is something I am consciously working with." Brown has received several fellowships from the National Endowment of Arts and State of Florida. She has had many one person exhibitions and her work can be found in many public and private collections. signed
