MENCONI SCULPTOR LAURENCE F. PECK ARCHITECT GORHAM CO. FOUNDERS (North plaque:) CIVIL WAR/(list of 125 names) (West plaque:) WAR OF THE REVOLUTION/(list of 242 names)/WAR OF 1812 (list of 5 names below) MEXICAN WAR (list of 2 names below) (South plaque:) SPANISH AMERICAN WAR/(list of 2 names)/WORLD WAR/(list of 49 names) signed Founder's mark appears.
    Description: 
    Large rectangular box-shaped stone slab, with bronze plaques on its four sides, mounted on a plinth. The fifty-inch thick slab is set back twenty-four inches on all sides from the edge of the plinth. The front plaque features elaborate decorative motifs in bas-relief and the dedication sentiment. The relief features mirror images of cannon at right and left pointed toward a complex central trophy of flags. Vertical patterns of foliate and emblem patterns flank the panel and the lettering below it. The other three plaques are plain recessed panels with inscriptions.
