    Remarks:
The sculpture is the centerpiece of the redesigned Cheshire Town Memorial Plaza (Robert Sapack of Sapack, Ames & Whitaker Architects) and pays tribute to all veterans. The design concept was created by Jerry R. Lodynsky and approved by the Town Beautification Committee, Feb. 22, 1989. Endorsement by the Town Council was achieved on June 13, 1989, including authorization to raise by popular subscription, $60,000 for the centerpiece memorial. Total cost of memorial was approximately $100,000, with some city funds contributed. Monument Services Co. (Randolph, VT) erected the monument.
West of the base, but adjacent to it, embedded in circular brick platform, a cast bronze plaque reads: PARADOX/The evolutionary Struggle of humanity/for the hope and promise of a lifetime of peace/Dedicated May 27, 1990/Jerry R. Lodynsky/Designer/Cheshire, CT / James L. Sardonis/Sculptor/Randolph, VT.
IAS files contain schematic drawings of the memorial (5/1/97), a copy of the dedication booklet and additional information about the preliminary model and commissioning history.
