Sculpture set atop a post with welding bead lettering painted beige. Subject:  Figure male -- Full length Object -- Weapon -- Gun Occupation -- Industry -- Mining Object Type:  Outdoor Sculpture -- Colorado -- Leadville Sculpture Owner:  Administered by Lake County, County Commissioners, Leadville, Colorado 80461 Located 1.2 miles from East 5th Street & Harrison Avenue, on County Road Route 1, Leadville, Colorado Remarks:  One of thirty sculptural replacement markers commissioned by Lake County for significant sites in the historic mining districts to the east of Leadville. The Small Hopes Mining Company, organized in Denver in 1878, operated the Robert Emmett Mine. This mine was the scene of a battle between strikers and mine guards during the Strike of 1896.
