Remarks:
The artists, a father and son team, created the centennial fountain which symbolizes
Greeley
's second century. The design is based on Buckminster Fuller's geodesic domes, sepcifically the one at the American Pavillion Expo in Montreal in 1967. The fountain cost $3,000, with funds raised by the Morning Garden Club. IAS files contain related newsclippings from the
Greeley
Tribune dated June 9, 1972 and July 19, 1972. The artists initially applied a chemical patina to bring out shades of green; however, surface now has milky brown flat finish.
