The sculpture is one of nine installed in the Living Memorial Sculpture Garden. The garden was created by volunteers under the guidance of Ric deLugo as a memorial to war dead. Land for the garden was donated by the United States Forest Service. Funding for the sculpture was raised by donation. In the summer of 1993 the sculpture was vandalized and the reclining figure was moved. The sculpture was restored by volunteers.
