    Title supplied by Inventory cataloger.
    The obelisk was inspired by beachcombing at and around Onomea Beach. The sculptor was a member of the faculty at the University of Hawaii's Hilo Campus at the time and he found the pottery shards which he incorporated into the mosaic on the obelisk in the vicinity of Onomea Beach. The obelisk was completed as a summer project between 1982 and 1984 and donated to the University.
