Description:
Eleven figures in period military uniforms are positioned around a plaza. Behind each figure is a bronze flagpole displaying a period flag. A Revolutionary War soldier advances with a musket and wears a pack on his back. A sailor from the War of 1812 stands amidst a ship's rigging. The Mexican War soldier crouches slightly with his gun while the Civil War infantryman stands straight with his rifle pointing downwards. A Spanish-American War soldier stands at parade rest, holding his gun to his proper right with the butt on the ground. Out of a World War I trench climbs a doughboy and a World War II sailor stands behind a railing, holding binoculars in his proper right hand. A Korean War jet pilot holds his helmet in his proper right hand. The Vietnam War soldier stands with his proper right foot on a log. He holds an assault rifle at waist-level and wears an open flak jacket. The Persian Gulf War is represented by two figures: a woman standing at attention with her rifle slung over her proper right shoulder and a pilot holding his helmet in his proper left hand and resting his proper right hand on the woman's proper left shoulder. Each war's sculpture has its own base. In the center of the plaza is a taller flagpole with a nine-sided marker with etchings of various veteran scenes and famous quotes at its base. The plaza is paved with inscribed bricks.
