    Description: 
    Major General Frederick Steele stands in uniform, holding his hat in his proper left hand, and his downward-pointed sword in his proper left hand. He has a beard and mustache and wears a knee-length, buttoned coat and knee-length boots. The figure is mounted upon a stepped base with inscribed plaques.

    Remarks: 
    Commemorates Civil War Major General Frederick Steele. Figure was given by his grandnephews and grandnieces. The monument is on the National Park Service List of Classified Structures (LCS no. 07265). IAS files contain a copy of the LCS report form. Pedestal cost $790 paid by James H. Procter, Anne E. Rice, Emily P. Mandell, and Thomas E. Procter.
