Seated portrait of Tom L. Johnson holding a copy of Henry George's book "Progress and Poverty" in his proper right hand. The sculpture rests on a circular place inscribed with classical figures.

Remarks:
Erected by the City of Cleveland for $15,000. Johnson was mayor of Cleveland from 1900-1910. Geiselman carved the relief of classical figures on the base. Lybarger publication gives dedication date of 1914.

Treated 1996 October. Venus Bronze Works, Inc. (Detroit, MI). Treatment report on file with the owner.
