    Description: 
    Oak Square contains several rectangular bronze relief panels installed in the stone curb along the park's brick walkways and a large bronze medallion embedded in the brick walkway at the center of the park. The rectangular reliefs depict either flower and herb designs drawn from engravings on Breck seed catalogs, or cornucopias brimming with fruits. The central medallion depicts a large oak tree that once stood on the same spot and gave the square its name.

    Funding was provided through a $350,000 Oak Square renovation project endowed by the Edward Ingersoll Browne Fund. IAS files contain a briefing document from the Edward Ingersoll Browne Fund Commission, an article from the Allston-Brighton Citizen, June 27, 1990, pg. 32; a copy of the artist's proposal which includes detailed sketches of each relief, and a copy of the landscape architect's statement.
