    Portrait had formerly been attributed by the family to Gilbert Stuart.
    Robert Hazelhurst, born Mar. 26, 1755 possibly in England, went to Philadelphia before the Revolutionary War. He later moved to Charleston, South Carolina where he established business. He was founder of the Charleston Chamber of Commerce and was a vestryman of St. Michael's Church. He later moved to Burlington, New Jersey where he died on Aug. 24, 1825. He was married to Elizabeth Hall.
