    Description: 
    A fountain sculpture consisting of a granite stele adorned at the base with an ox head fountain spout above which is a rectangular glass mosaic depicting an allegorical figure of Abundance and a cornucopia filled with fruits and vegetables.

    Remarks: 
    Charles W. Stoughton created the architectural setting for the fountain; Edwin Blashfield designed the mosaic centerpiece figure of Abundance leaning on a cornucopia filled with fruits and vegetables; and Eli Harvey created the ox head from which water flows from the mouth into a small basin.
    The inscription on a nearby plaque reads: THE EVANGELINE BLASHFIELD / FOUNTAIN / DEDICTED MAY 13, 1919 / A GIFT OF THE MUNICIPAL ART SOCIETY OF NEW YORK/TO THE CITY IN HONOR OF/ EVANGELINE WILBOUR BLASHVIELD / WHO SOUGHT TO BEAUTIFY PUBLIC SPACE / AND PROVIDE WATER FOR VENDORS AT THE / OPEN-AIR MARKETPLACE ORIGINALLY ON THIS SITE. / EDWIN H. BLASHFIELD, MOSAIC / ELI HARVEY, SCULPTURE / CHARLES W. STOUGHTON, ARCHITECTURE / RESTORED IN 2002 WITH A GRANT FROM FLORENCE D'URSO / IN MEMORY OF HER HUSBAND, CAMILLO, / THROUGH THE MUNICIPAL ART SOCIETY'S / ADOTE-A-MURAL PROGRAM / IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE / ART COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF NEW YORK AND / NYC ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION, / AND WITH FUNDS FROM SHELDON M.
