The artist and date of execution are from a memo that was made at the time the painting was restored in 1952 by Thor Solberg in Brooklyn, New York. Dr. Alfred Freeman was born Nov. 6, 1793 in Salem, New York and died March 8, 1861. He was the son of Andrew and Elizabeth Freeman. IAP files contain a copy of his obituary from The North American Journal of Homeopathy, Vol. IX, 1861.
