    Full-length portrait of Thomas Brackett Reed stands atop a square base with a decorative border. He is a balding and portly figure wearing a suit, vest and knee-length coat. He holds a rolled-up paper in his proper left hand and his proper right hand is raised near his hip.

    Remarks: 
    Sculpture honors Thomas Brackett Reed (1839-1902), a Portland native and Civil War veteran who served as Maine's Attorney General, a United States Congressman and Speaker of the House of Representatives. The total cost of the sculpture was $35,000. The Reed Memorial Association of Portland was responsible for the installation. The plaque was a later addition, cast by Sheidow Bronze Corporation and installed about 1989. The plaque was commissioned by Stanley T. Bennett II and David P. McKane and donated to the city.
