The bust of Orville is on the proper right; the bust of Wilbur, on the proper left. Alfred Easton Poor designed the monument; Hansen created the busts. In July 1985, the busts were lost, vandalized and recovered; they were stolen in April 1987 and recovered in October 1989. In 1987, copies of the busts were made by Sheidow Bronze Corporation, cast from a duplicate set located at the Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio.
