    Description: 
    A pigmy hippo head appears to grow out of the base as if emerging from water. The head faces forward with its mouth open and teeth showing. Small ears and eyes are visible. To the proper left of the pigmy hippo, a larger hippo stands on an incline near a rock. Its head faces forward and its proper left rear leg extends behind the other. Its mouth is closed. Together the two hippos form a V-shape with the vortex at the front. The sculpture is mounted upon a rectangular base with a slanting upper front.

    Remarks: 
    The sculpture was a gift from Lee Brooks Thornton, a pioneer supporter of the Reid Park Zoo. It is part of the Bronzes for the Blind, a project developed by the zoo to offer the blind tactile images of the zoo animals. Each sculpture is placed at hand-level where it can be touched. The project is an ongoing collaboration between the zoo and the artist.
