Located State of Connecticut, Department of Public Safety, Litchfield State Police Barracks, Troop L, Route 202, Entrance wall, Litchfield, Connecticut 06759
Remarks:
The $8,000 sculpture was commissioned in 1989 when the barracks for Troop L (Connecticut State Police) was funded through the State's Art in Public Spaces law. The bas-relief was originally designed to commemorate the memories of two slain state police troopers. While the work was in progress, a third officer was killed and the artist modified the design to include all three. The eagle's wings are a reference to the fact that the barracks site is on land owned by the White Foundation, an organization dedicated to the preservation of the land and animals living within the 4000 acres of the property.
