    Description: 
    Sculpture consists of a base of many layers tapered up to a high-relief portrait bust of Prince Jonah Kuhio Kalanianaole which is mounted inside an alcove-like structure. The figure wears a flat-brimmed hat.

    Remarks: 
    Site of the sculpture is the birthplace of Prince Kuhio, Jonah Kuhio Kalanianaole (1871-1922), who was the Hawaiian delegate to Congress, 1902-1922. Prince Kuhio Park also known as Kuhio Memorial Park. IAS files include a related article from the Garden Island (Hawaii) June 5, 1928 and citations to the book "The Empty Throne: a biography of Hawaii's Prince Cupid," by Lori Kamae, 1980, and the Garden Island, July 1, 1924/5:1-2, Dec. 23, 1924/1:1, March 10, 1925/1:3, May 19, 1925/3:1-4, Dec. 1, 1925/1:1, and June 12, 1928/1:1. SOS! survey report listed foundry as Oman Bronze Works, N.J. based on inscription. IAS cataloger assigned as Roman Bronze Works.
