    Remarks:
This sculpture project was funded through Public Art Works (formerly known as InterArts of Marin). It was completed in three phases over several years. The work began with a public gathering on May 25, 1984 at sunset to see the Lava Ship fired in a on-site kiln made with a metal armature and ceramic-fiber blanket heated to 2,000 degrees by a propane-powered burner. The kiln was later removed and in the second phase, the Trellis Ship was installed and the clematis vines were planted. In the third phase, "Landwave" forms of soil were installed along with paths and benches. By May 25, 1986, all of the elements of the sculpture and landscaping were completed.
