    Remarks:
Sculpture was a gift of American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers. Victor Herbert (1859-1924) was a composer of light opera music. He began his musical career as a cellist in Strauss' orchestra in Vienna before coming to the U.S. in 1886. His celebrated comic operas include "The Fortune Teller," "Babes in Toyland," "Mlle. Modiste," and "The Red Mill." Herbert also composed the score for films such as "The Birth of a Nation," "Little Old New York," "The Great White Way," and "Yolanda." His bust faces the bandstand where he had often performed as the bandmaster of the 22nd Regiment of the New York National Guard.
