Remarks:
Lydia Morris and her husband John were the founders of the Morris Arboretum. This sculpture and its companion piece, a portrait Mr. John Morris (IAS 64280133), were commissioned by Philip and Muriel Berman. The two sculptures are installed near each other in an area overlooking the Azalea Meadow. The artist studied all available photographs of the Morrises in order to duplicate exactly the details of their Victorian dress. The sculptures were cast at the artist's foundry using the lost wax method.
