Description:
Vertical shaft stands atop a tiered base. A New York State Seal is affixed to the upper portion of the shaft in the front. Other relief elements include crossed rifles, assorted Infantry gear and a trefoil, the insignia of the 2nd Corps.

Remarks:
This is one of 90 monuments on the site honoring New York troops who fought in the Gettysburg campaign. It marks the position held by the 82nd New York on July 2 & 3, 1863. The sculpture (referred to as MN 239) is listed on the National Park Service List of Classified Structures and is referenced in the Gettysburg National Military Park Archives, vol. 21.
