Description:
Full-length figure of Christopher Columbus stands on a pedestal in a landscaped area overlooking the Hudson River. He wears period clothing, including a hat, vest and tunic. He points with his proper right hand and carries a compass in his proper left hand. There is a rope and anchor at his feet.

Erected by the Newburgh Chapter of Unico National at a cost of $100,000. Nearly half of this sum was contributed by donors of $500 or more whose names are inscribed on the monument. The remainder was raised through events sponsored by Unico. The sculpture was commissioned through

Studios
