Description:
Full-length figure of a Civil War soldier stands on a round shaft which stands on a square base. The figure is bearded and his rifle leans in front of him. He holds a wreath in both hands and a second wreath is looped on his proper left arm. The base has images in relief of various military devices which represent the branches of service. A rifle, knapsack, banners and wreath represent the Infantry; saddle, rifle, flags and swords represent the Cavalry; an anchor, line and bollard represent the Navy; and a connon, cartwheel and tampers represent the Artillery.

Remarks:
Erected by the Town of Lincoln and dedicated by the Ballou Post No. 3, Grand Army of the Republic. The cost was $4,000 which was raised by public subscription. IAS files include citations to the Pawtucket Evening Times May 31, 1888, the Pawtucket Gazette & Chronicle June 1, 1888, pg. 1 and the minutes to the Ballou Port No. 3, G.A.R. in the Adams Free Library, Central Falls, RI.
