Description:
Three terra cotta bas-relief panels, spaced about seventeen inches apart on a brick-walled staircase. On the panel at left is a figure of a football player, who appears to be running to his proper left, holding a football in his proper left arm; however, his head and torso are turned back to his proper right. The center panel contains a figure of a basketball player, standing with feet flat and legs spread, holding a basketball in both hands in front of his chest. On the panel at right is a runner, who appears almost in proper left profile. His proper left leg is bent and his proper right leg is extended behind him. His arms are bent; the proper right arm is raised and the proper left arm is back slightly and pointed downward.
