Remarks:
The
monument
marks one of the positions taken by the 157th
New
York Infantry in the 11th Corps line before being forced to retire on the afternoon of July 1, 1863. It was erected by surviving members of the regiment. The
monument
is listed on the National Park Service List of Classified Structures (referred to as MN 52) and is referenced in the Gettysburg National Military Park Archives, vol. 23. IAS files contain a copy of the LCS report form.
