    Description: 
    Obelisk stands on a pedestal and rough-hewn base. There are reliefs of the crescent corps insignia on the upper front and rear sides of the obelisk. A large relief grouping, which includes the New York state seal, wreaths, muskets, bugle, and other accouterments, is affixed to the front of the obelisk.

    Remarks: 
    The monument marks the position held by the 45th New York Infantry from about noon until forced to withdraw at about 4:00 on July 1, 1863. The monument is listed on the National Park Service List of Classified Structures (referred to as MN 53) and is referenced in the Gettysburg National Military Park Archives, vol. 19. IAS f iles contain a copy of the LCS report form.
