Description:
A granite marker with a relief of a uniformed Cavalryman seen in profile astride his horse. The
monument
sits atop a tiered rough-hewn base, placed atop a larger boulder. A State Seal is affixed to the front of the base.

Monument
is one of 90 honoring
New
York troops who participated in the Gettysburg campaign. It indicates the position of the 5th
New
York Cavalry on July 3, 1863 when supporting Elder's Battery B, 4th U. S. Battery. The piece was originally located elsewhere in the park on what is said to be "ground occupied by the Confederates." It was moved to its current location about 1890, at the request of veterans. The sculpture (referred to as MN 370) is listed on the National Park Service, List of Classified Structures and is referenced in the Gettysburg National Military Park Archives, vol. 25.
