    Description: 
    Abstract shapes and forms creating walking surface and protected area for play. Includes seating areas and reservoir on upper level where water can overflow and run down layers of stones to a small pool at lower level. Sculpture is designed to be wheelchair accessible. Walking surface has a complex series of curved grooves creating a pattern intended to provide an interesting sound and tactile experience for those who ride across it.

    Remarks: 
    Funding for the sculptural walkway project, which cost $11,000 to complete, came from the Kansas Arts Commission, Amy Fretz memorial fund, Colgate-Palmolive, and the Rosedale Sharing Community. Amy Fretz, who spent most of her life in a wheelchair, died at age 7. The sculpture was conceived with disabled children in mind, especially those confined to wheelchairs. IAS files contain "Proposal for a Sculpture," presented to the Rosedale Sharing Community by the artist; invitation to the dedication; and related articles from KC Business Journal, May 10, 1991, and Rosedale Sharing Community Newsletter, June and July 1991.
