The sculpture rests atop a cylindrical base that is encircled by a bronze inscription plaque. The left side of the plaque is adorned with the New York state seal and the right side is adorned with the badge of the 1st Corps. The memorial is listed on the National Park Service, List of Classified Structures (referred to as MN 24) and is referenced in the Gettysburg National Military Park Archives, vol. 10. IAS files contain a copy of the LCS report form. The base was designed by Edward Pearce Casey and was fabricated by the National Granite Company.
