    Description: 
    A rounded, rough-cut marker with a bronze relief plaque depicting a Civil War battle scene. Major General George H. Thomas is seen in left profile, in uniform including a wide-brimmed hat. Soldiers on either side of him, fire at one another over a log fence in the center. On the rear of the marker is a circular State of Ohio seal. The marker is mounted upon a rough-cut, block base.

    Remarks: 
    The monument commemorates the involvement of the 14th Ohio Infantry, 2nd Brigade, 3rd Division, 14th Army Corps, commanded by Major General George H. Thomas at the Battle of Chickamauga during the Civil War. It marks the position held by the regiment during the battle. The cost was $1,470. The monument was erected by Maurice J. Power. Charles Henry Niehaus sculpted the State of Ohio seal. IAS files contain: copy of Georgia Historic Resources 1988 form, Historic Preservation Section, Georgia Department of Natural Resources. The monument is on the National Park List of Classified Structures No. 03036. IAS files contain a copy of the LCS report form.
