Ambrose Fombelle was a prominent lawyer and judge in Wayne County, Ohio.

Ambrose M. Fombelle (1859-1932), a son of Alexander and Deliah (Magaw) Fombelle of Beaver Co., PA. Who traces his roots to Lucien Fombelle who was a native of France. Religious unrest and persecution drove Lucien from his native land with a band of Huguenots who came to the United States in the post-revolutionary period. Ambrose Fombelle came to Wooster in the early 1900s as a hay, grain, and produce dealer in the firm of Magaw & Fombelle, eventually becoming the sole proprietor. He was a director of the The Citizens National Bank and by 1909 also worked as an agent for the Wooster Transportation Company.
