Born Aug. 27, 1834 in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania and died June 5, 1903. The son of Robert and Nancy McClarran Caskey. In 1862 married Josephine Newman, the daughter of Dr. William Newman. He served in Company E of the 120th Ohio Volunteer Infantry. He was a partner of McClarran and Caskey, a grocery and Queensware store.

John S. Caskey (1834-1902) a genial, honest, progressive citizen that ran a successful grocery store starting in partnership with Harrison O. McClarran in 1869, then by himself until 1902 when he sold out and retired. Elected and served as Wayne County Treasurer in 1880 serving two terms in that capacity.
