    Remarks: 
    Maraschi was a Jesuit priest who came from Italy to open a boys academy during the San Francisco gold rush of 1855. The academy later became the University of San Francisco. The sculpture was commissioned by retired businessman Constantine Raises. IAS files contain copy of related article from San Francisco Progress, Oct. 20, 1988.
