Description:
A uniformed Civil War soldier stands with his proper left arm wrapped around a flag, his proper right hand grasping a sword on his proper left side. He has moustache and wears a cap. There is a tree stump beneath the flag by his proper left leg. The soldier is mounted upon a flat-topped pyramid pedestal decorated with a carved acorn on the front, set on a short, rough-edged base.

Remarks:
The monument commemorates the involvement of the 10th Wisconsin Infantry, 1st Brigade, 1st Division, 14th Corps at the Battle of Chickamauga during the Civil War. It marks the position held by the regiment during the battle. It was placed by the State of Wisconsin. IAS files contain partial transcription of inscription on rear of pedestal; related excerpt from Jack Kerr's "Monuments and Markers of the 29 States Engaged at Chickamauga and Chattanooga," Collegedale, TN: The College Press, n.d.; copy of Georgia Historic Resources form, Historic Preservation Section, Georgia Department of Natural Resources. The monument is on the National Park List of Classified Structures No. 03238. IAS files contain a copy of the LCS report form.
