    Description:
Sculpture of Mary atop a square steel base, atop a concrete base. Mary's arms are extended with her hands open, one hand directed up toward heaven, and the other angled down to earth. She stands with one foot flat on the ground, and the other slightly shifted to convey movement. White drapery stretches over her arms and across her back. The fabric looks as if it may be falling from her, symbolizing her leaving earth. Within the drapery are images of angels, one under each arm, lifting her up to heaven. A third angel is implied in the veining of the lapis blue scagliola design on her dress. Gold highlights added near her heart symbolize the love of a mother, and gold highlights crowning her head create a halo or crown effect. Traditional colors of white, blue, pink, purple, and gold were used throughout the scagliola surface treatment.

    Remarks:
The artist collaborated with Neil Wiffil on the traditional scagliola surface treatment. Elton Daniel Bishop designed and fabricated the steel grotto. Steel roses on the base honor Mary, and the mothers of the artists. The sculpture and garden were dedicated as part of the parish's 175th anniversary celebration.
