    Description:
A uniformed Confederate soldier stands at parade rest with his proper left foot extended slightly beyond the rim of the plinth. He rests with both hands on the barrel of his rifle, the butt of which rests by his feet. He wears a wide brimmed hat, and has a bed roll strapped across his chest and over his proper left shoulder. An object, possibly a knife in a sheath, hangs from his belt on his proper left. A pouch with a canteen on top of it hangs from his belt and rests on his proper left buttock. The sculpture is mounted on a tall shaft with reliefs on its four sides. On the front of the shaft is the relief of a Confederate flag on a broken pole. On the back of the shaft is a relief of two crossed flags. On either side of the shaft are reliefs of two swords and two rifles. The shaft is mounted on a multitiered, stepped base.
