    THE GORHAM CO, NEW YORK & PROVIDENCE (Lower proper right:) TCENCI (On plaque above relief plaque:) 1914-1918/"WHAT MEAN THESE STONES?"/IN HONOR OF THE HEROES OF CHEMUNG COUNTY WHO/SERVED IN THE WORLD WAR AND IN MEMORY OF/THESE WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES. (On relief plaque, below the reliefs: three columns with 40 names each) unsigned Founder's mark appears.
    Description: 
    Relief plaque mounted on a stele in the center of an exedra. Relief depicts a seated soldier flanked by a sailor seated beside an anchor and a soldier kneeling beside a canon, a rifle held in his proper right hand. Behind the miliary figures there is an angel with wings spread, a branch held in one hand and a sword held in the other hand.
