A winged lion lies on its stomach with a shield between its front paws, inscribed with the Greek "alpha" character.

One of two mythological lion sculptures located in front of the church (see also IAS record KY000183). Both sculptures, as well as statues of Saint Peter and Saint Paul (IAS KY000189 and KY000190) were all created by the Franz Mayer Studio in Munich, Germany, and shipped together for placement at the church. The total cost of all four pieces was $2,400. Carl Brothers Construction Company placed the sculpture in position. IAS files contain church brochure, and transcription of shipping details and costs as found in Parish archives bound scrapbook: Historia, Vol. III, p. 75.
