Inscription:  unsigned Description:  Portrait of Archibald Bruce McEachin with his body turned slightly to the left and his gaze directed down. He wears a black jacket and tie with a white shirt. His dark hair is cut short, and he has a moustache and goatee. Subject:  Portrait male -- McEachin, Bruce -- Bust Occupation -- Law -- Lawyer Occupation -- Military -- Captain Object Type:  Painting Owner:  Destroyed. Provenance:  Formerly in the collection of Otts, Eudora McQueen Somerville McEachin, Greensboro, Alabama Bird, Elizabeth Avery Otts, Forkland, Alabama Formerly in the collection of Bird, James Whitfield, Mr. & Mrs., Forkland, Alabama until June 18, 2016. Remarks:  The painting was destroyed in a fire caused by lightning at Riverview Plantation, the home of Mr. and Mrs. James Whitfield Bird, on June 18, 2016. Capt. Archibald Bruce McEachin (1837-1909) was the son of Peter and Maria (McQueen) McEachin. In 1861 he married Eudora Somerville. He was an attorney and President of the Alabama Bar Association from 1891-1892, as well as a Captain in the 6th Alabama Cavalry, C. S. A., and Quartermasters Department.
