    Remarks: 
    The painting was destroyed in a fire caused by lightning at Riverview Plantation, the home of Mr. and Mrs. James Whitfield Bird, on June 18, 2016.
    Capt. Archibald Bruce McEachin (1837-1909) was the son of Peter and Maria (McQueen) McEachin. In 1861 he married Eudora Somerville. He was an attorney and President of the Alabama Bar Association from 1891-1892, as well as a Captain in the 6th Alabama Cavalry, C. S. A., and Quartermasters Department. IAP files contain additional sitter biographical information. The portrait is possibly by either Nicola Marschall or William Carroll Sanders.
